Today is 2012 Induction Day at the Baseball Reliquary. If you are in the Pasadena area, you should drop all other plans and attend. We certainly wish we could be there.
Sunday, July 15, 2012 ~ 2:00 p.m.
Donald R. Wright Auditorium
Pasadena Central Library
285 E. Walnut Street, Pasadena, California
Among the 2012 inductees is Jim “Mudcat” Grant, who invited us into his living room earlier this year to talk Dock and baseball, and who lights up the screen with his laugh in our film trailer. Congratulations, Mudcat!
The Reliquary and Terry Cannon have been supporters and friends of The Dockumentary from the very beginning. It is hard to imagine being where we are today without their help. Dock Ellis was among the inaugural group of inductees in 1999. Clearly they understood early and clearly where Dock’s legacy fits within the complex web of baseball and culture.
As a special thanks and to honor their part in making our film a success, we are sharing a clip from Dock’s speech to the 1999 Reliquary Induction audience. Congratulations on 14 years of honoring baseball’s finest!
